Bradley Banias cut his teeth in the niche world of immigration litigation at the Department of Justice, and he now practices law at Barnwell Whaley – focusing on business immigration law and federal court immigration litigation. He represents clients throughout the United States in Federal Court and his immigration work has been featured in national articles by The Guardian and Indyweek, as well as numerous Spanish publications and broadcasts. He is an active part of the national conversation on federal litigation for immigration issues and their effect on American businesses. In addition, he is an authoritative voice on the national stage as he has served as a panelist for many CLE (Continuing Legal Education) courses with the American Immigration Lawyers Association throughout the United States. Banias is a cum laude graduate with a bachelor of arts in philosophy from the College of Charleston’s Honors College, and graduated summa cum laude from the first graduating class of the Charleston School of Law. While in law school, he was the associate editor in chief of the Charleston Law Review and problem editor for the Moot Court Board. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable G. Ross Anderson, United States District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina, and the Honorable Dennis W. Shedd, United States Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Banias also earned his masters of law from Columbia Law School, where his studies emphasized immigration law and constitutional history, and graduated with highest honors as a Stone Scholar.
Banias is Chair, Federal Litigation Section, Carolinas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, A member of the AILA Administrative Litigation Task Force, a member of the prestigious James L. Petigru, American Inn of Court, a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar and formerly part of the Trial and Appellate Advocacy Council (2015-2017). He is admitted to practice in all South Carolina State Courts, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th, 5th, and 11th Circuits.
