Annual Living History of American Wars
The 13th annual Battle of Charleston-A Timeline of American Wars will take place April 8th and 9th 2017. School day will be April 7th for students to have a living history experience.
The event will take place on Johns Island at Legare Farms, a working family farm since 1725. Reenactors include pirates, Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. Gates open at 10:00 am with activities going on all during the day.
On Saturday, a Ladies Social will take place at 10:30 am with a program about First Ladies of Presidents during each war. On Sunday at 10:30 there will be a period church service. Both Saturday and Sunday, there will be skirmishes by Civil War and World War II.
Vietnam reenactors will give demonstrations. See the website www.battleofchas.com for a complete schedule. The soldiers and civilian campsites will be on display and the public is invited to visit in the camps to see how life might have been during the wars. Medical demonstrations will be ongoing during the day. Many living history displays such as cooking over an open fire, candle making, and sewing will be displayed.
