Dorchester District Two names Christy Hardegree Graham as in-house attorney

Dorchester School District Two has named Christy Hardegree Graham as In-House Legal Counsel for the school district. Graham is currently serving as staff attorney with South Carolina Legal Services in Charleston. Dorchester District Two Board of Trustees approved the hiring of an in-house attorney in the fall of 2017 to provide legal assistance for the district and school administrators on policy and legal matters; state and federal regulations affecting schools; and pre-litigation interventions.

Graham is a graduate of Clemson University and received her law degree from Tulane University School of Law. After graduating from law school, she served as an education attorney at the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. specializing in matters of special education, discipline and school stability in Maryland and Washington, D.C. In this position, she focused on early interventions and pre-litigation resolutions. Graham will join the district in March.

Superintendent Joe Pye commented, “We are pleased to have the benefit of an attorney on staff to provide principals and district staff with immediate assistance on the many legal issues and federal and state regulations that we deal with so often. Ms. Graham will be able to support our schools with early interventions on these matters that will ultimately benefit our students.”
