Signature Chefs Auction Co-Chairs, Dr. Alison Dillon and George J.F. Bullwinkel, III

Charleston, South Carolina, November 15th, 2018 — The March of the Dimes is pleased to announce that Dr. Alison Dillon & George J.F. Bullwinkel, III will serve as co-chairs for the 2018 Charleston Signature Chefs Auction. As the event co-chairs, Dr. Dillon and George will play an integral role in raising awareness and funds to advance the research and educational programs at the core of the March of Dimes efforts to improve the health of every mom and baby.

Signature Chefs Auction Lead Chef, Anthony DiBernardo

Alison Dillon has spent her career invested in the outcomes of high risk pregnancies. She attended undergraduate and medical training at Wake Forest University which eventually lead her to Charleston for OB/GYN residency and Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. Following her training, Dr. Dillon worked in private practice here for 21 years. She started her career with Charleston OB/GYN, caring for both high and low risk pregnancies. During her years with private practice she delivered many babies at Roper St. Francis as well as East Cooper Medical Center. Dr. Dillon now focuses exclusively on high risk pregnancies at Charleston Maternal Fetal Medicine, along with Dr. Christopher Robinson and Dr. Richard Adams. Together, this specialized team provides care for patients at Roper St. Francis Hospital and Summerville Medical Center. Throughout her career, Dr. Dillon has served in leadership positions and on Health Care Boards, allowing her to see health care from many perspectives. She has also participated with the March of Dimes as a sponsor of the Signature Chefs Auction for several years.

Dr. Dillon says, "I am so honored to be serving as co-chair for the Signature Chefs Auction to benefit the March of Dimes. This event offers a unique opportunity to experience our top local culinary talent, as Charleston has become a nationally recognized leader in cuisine, all while celebrating and supporting a great cause. I am thrilled to be working with a group of generous volunteers and gifted chefs who are committed to our mission to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies."

George J.F. Bullwinkel, III is a Member with Nexsen Pruet, and practices primarily in the areas of real estate acquisition and development, commercial real estate, and administrative law, including permitting, zoning and land sales registrations, development agreements and economic development. George represents clients in securing economic development incentives, large tract rezoning approval and infrastructure agreements with various agencies, counties and municipalities of the State of South Carolina.

“I am deeply honored to serve as chair for the Signature Chefs Auction benefiting the March of Dimes,” said Bullwinkel. “This event will highlight the extraordinary talent we have here in the Holy City. Guests will be able to sample signature dishes from some of the finest restaurants in Charleston while supporting healthy babies.”

March of Dimes Charleston Signature Chefs Auction will be held on Thursday, November 15th at the Hotel Bennett. This will be the 19th Annual Charleston Signature Chefs Auction that will be moving to the new and exclusive Hotel Bennett. The evening will feature food tastings from premier Charleston Chefs, fine wine, entertainment, and an exceptional live auction.

Funds raised by Signature Chefs Auction help support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) family support programs and advocacy efforts for moms and babies.

Today, one in every ten U.S. infants is born premature, including more than 6,000 in South Carolina. The March of Dimes is committed to funding research to find the answers to problems that continue to threaten the lives and health of babies.
