EC Rotary Club’s Speakeasy Jumpin’, Jivin’ For Local Charities

Guys and gals, the joint will be hoppin’ at the second annual East Cooper Speakeasy –– Prohibition for a Cause hosted by the East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club and sponsored by the Louis and Grace DeWolff Foundation as a way to support local and Rotary International charities. The event, open only to ages 21 and up, will be held Saturday, October 21st from 7-11 p.m. in Mount Pleasant at the Sweetgrass Event Center located at 2125 Hwy. 17 North.

Proceeds from the East Cooper Speakeasy will benefit East Cooper Community Outreach, My Sister’s House, and Rotary Charities that include Polio Plus, Happy Feet, and Toys For Tots.

All gangster, flapper and 1920’s speakeasy attire is welcome but not required. Tickets are $100 per person and include heavy hors d’oeuvres, open bar, dancing to jazz and swing music with the Charleston Swing Dance Association, games, a silent auction with themed packages, and a chance to win the grand prize…a Seven Day, Six Night Stay in a two bedroom cottage at Firefly Sunset Resort in Hope Town ~ Abaco, Bahamas - Valid January 2018 - January 2019 or $2000 cash! Last year’s inaugural event raised $18,000 for the same named charities. This year, event organizers anticipate more guests dolled up in 1920’s costumes, and even more tempting auction items. They are especially excited to have Firefly Distillery as a sponsor this year offering the grand prize Bahamas resort stay.

THE EAST COOPER BREAKFAST ROTARY CLUB was chartered in 1996 with 35 active members. Today it is comprised of approximately 50 members who provide educational and financial assistance to the East Cooper community.
