Fritz Porter Expands Cigar Factory Space

Interior Design Collective Now Offers Textiles And Wallpaper To The Trade

April 1, 2017 - Charleston, SC – Fritz Porter, a design collective offering a curated selection of antiques, contemporary art, lighting and period furnishings, will expand its footprint in The Cigar Factory with an additional 2,600 square feet of showroom space. The store will now offer textiles, wallpaper, custom furniture, lighting, and rugs to the trade, making it the area’s premier resource for interior designers and architects.

A Charleston native, Sarah Hamlin Hastings opened Fritz Porter in January of 2016 and stocked the 6,700 square feet space with 30 hand-picked brands, antique dealers and local artisans. After a decade in the New York design scene, she sought to create a local destination for designers to source lighting, furnishings and textiles while offering a curated space for retail shoppers.

“In the eighteen months since opening the store, Charleston’s design scene has grown with an influx of interior designers moving South. As a designer myself, I saw the need for design showroom resources and services to trade clients, while continuing to offer a unique collection of furnishings to the retail client,” says Hastings. “With the new showroom, Fritz Porter will offer the best of to-the-trade collections that used to demand a 6-hour drive to Atlanta.”

The new Fritz Porter Showroom will offer designers and their clients access to the textile
collections, light fixtures, rugs and furniture firsthand. Many of the lines represented are created by small batch producers and are exclusively available at Fritz Porter, giving talented emerging product designers a platform to connect with both trade and retail customers.

On Thursday, April 6, Fritz Porter will celebrate the new showroom with an open house where representatives from the showroom lines (including Apparatus, Holland & Sherry, Robert Long, Highland House, and more) will be on hand to meet with trade clients from 10am until 3pm.
