Unicorns may be elusive mythical creatures, but the fun at Gay Bingo is very real. This marquee fundraiser for Palmetto Community Care (formerly Lowcountry AIDS Services) is back on Thursday, Aug. 16 featuring hostess Patti O’Furniture, a costume contest and more glitter than a Cher concert.
Presented by Avita Pharmacy, Gay Bingo is 6-10 p.m. Aug. 10 at Memminger Auditorium, 56 Beaufain St. in Charleston. Tickets are sale now at www.CharlestonGayBingo.org. This year’s theme is Rainbow, Unicorns & Glitter.
General admission tickets are $25 in advance, $35 beginning Aug. 1 and $40 day of. VIP Tickets are $60 in advance and $75 day of. VIP tickets include a pre-event reception at 5 p.m. with complimentary bubbles, premium seating in the reserved VIP section and a free drink ticket.
Reserved tables for 10 people are available for $500. A VIP Reserved Table for $750 includes special recognition at the event, pre-event reception, a champagne toast, premium seating, snacks and sweets at the table, plus your choice of local craft beer or wine for the table. A very limited number of VIP Plus Reserved Tables are available for $1,000. This level includes special recognition at the event, pre-event reception, front row seating, snacks and sweets at the table, plus cocktail service for the table.
Tickets are limited and have sold out the last two years, so purchase early to guarantee a spot. Event proceeds benefit Palmetto Community Care in its work providing complete compassionate HIV care and prevention services to the tri-county area.
“The community has really embraced this event and each year we’re striving to make it even better,” said Jason Kirk, director of development and marketing for Palmetto Community Care. “We’re improving the sound quality, the bar service and the food options. Add to that rainbows, unicorns and glitter beer, and we know this is going to be the best Gay Bingo yet.”
Gay Bingo, where the winner is never a straight line and everyone has a ball, includes six games of bingo, food trucks, prizes for the best costumes and performances by Patti O’Furniture, the “Camp Queen of the Carolinas,” who performs regularly at Dudley’s on Ann in downtown Charleston. Winners for each game receive fabulous prize packages, including spa treatments, restaurant gift certificates, fun experiences and much more with prize packages valued between $300-$500.
