MT. PLEASANT, S.C., January 29, 2019 — Pleasant Speakers, a local area club of Toastmasters International, announces that its member, Kevin Ecarius, has received Competent Communication certification from Toastmasters International.
The Competent Communication program involves completion of 10 projects, ranging from organizing speeches and succinctness to vocal variety and visual aids. The program culminates with projects geared toward persuading and inspiring audiences.
“The Competent Communicator program helps members build on skills, one project at a time,” said Kathy Honan, vice president of education for Pleasant Speakers. “Our club is proud to see Kevin achieve this designation, enhancing his professional and interpersonal skills.”
“After a nearly two-year journey of striving to become a better public speaker, I was elated to earn my Competent Communicator certification from Toastmasters International,” Ecarius said. “I made the decision to seek out a local Toastmasters club on New Year’s Day 2017 as part of my resolutions. I highly recommend Toastmasters, and every journey begins with a single speech. Through my Toastmasters journey, I learned to listen, how to plan, give feedback and accept it, and most importantly, how to lead.”
Toastmasters International’s newest educational program, Pathways, combines proven projects from the Competent Leadership and Competent Communicator certifications, while adding modern, digital components.
Pleasant Speakers Toastmasters Club #7783 invites guests to attend meetings, which are open to the public. Meetings are 6:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays, every month, at Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, 847 Coleman Blvd., Second Floor, Mt. Pleasant.
