Palmetto Publishing Group Directors Exit Company, Start New Venture, Vedere Press

The creative directors of Palmetto Publishing Group, Jennifer Toomey and Lance Buckley, have left the company and started a new venture, Vedere Press.

Vedere Press, named after the Italian word for “to see,” was created to showcase artists and businesses through beautiful, high-quality, coffee-table style books that stay true to the artist’s vision. These books are designed, printed, and distributed directly from Vedere Press.

Toomey and Buckley are no strangers to the independent publishing industry, and both have a strong passion for art and books. After years of mastering their craft with Amazon’s self-publishing company, CreateSpace, they created, built, and operated one of the most respected and highly rated independent book publishing companies in the United States, Palmetto Publishing Group, publishing hundreds of titles a year.

“Because every artist and business we work with will receive personalized, white-glove treatment, we have decided to limit our titles to only fifty-two a year,” Buckley said.

Over the years, they found that there simply isn’t a great independent publishing solution for high-quality art and photography books. Many times, artists are forced to compromise their creative vision by enlisting a traditional publisher—while waiting months, sometimes years, for their book to be completed. If they decide to self-publish, they are often constrained by lackluster printing and design options and the one-size-fits-all mentality of most independent publishing companies.

“With our printing, media, and distribution partnerships that we’ve formed over the last several years, we can now cater to the high-end art community and revolutionize the entire industry,” Toomey states.
