Run, Forrest, Run 5K Race, Shoes for Joe Night, and Boeing Employee Appreciation Day highlight homestand

CHARLESTON, SC – Following a seven-game road trip to Lexington, Ky. and Charleston, W.Va., the Charleston RiverDogs host four games against their Palmetto State rivals, the Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox affiliate). This will be Greenville’s only trip to The Joe in the first half of this season.

Thursday, May 14, 7:05 pm: Help us honor military spouses, the men and women who are home while their loved ones are overseas, on Military Appreciation Night presented by ISHPI. All active, retired, and immediate military families will receive free admission to the game. The first game of the homestand is also a Thirsty Thursday, the third of 10 Thirsty Thursdays during the 2015 season. Enjoy ‘Happy Hour’ with $1 beers and music in the Ashley View Pub presented by Budweiser. DJ Natty Heavy will be at “The Joe” spinning popular tunes throughout the game presented by 95SX.

Friday, May 15, 7:05 pm: This is the fourth ISHPI Red Shirt Friday of the season and it is presented by WEZL, with postgame fireworks over the scenic Ashley River presented by Home Telecom. Support the military by wearing red and when you come to the box office, you can and receive $1 off your ticket. Fans will have the option to donate that dollar to Canines for Veterans, who will once again bring “Titus the Bat Dog” to perform his bat boy duties during the game. The RiverDogs will wear special red jerseys as a show of support for our military.

Saturday, May 16, 6:05 pm: The 9th annual Run, Forrest, Run 5K Race, presented by Fleet Feet Sports, will be held prior to Saturday’s game. The unique 5K race finishes with the runners crossing home plate and being greeted by the RiverDogs players. The rain-or-shine event benefits the MUSC Storm Eye Institute and their fight to cure Retinitis Pigmentosa and other blinding diseases. Fans who run in the race will receive a free ticket to the game. Saturday is also Shoes for Joe Night. Fans that bring new or used shoes for donating to INNERSOLES will receive a free general admission ticket to the game. INNERSOLES is a charity founded by Dawn Staley, the University of South Carolina women’s basketball coach. There will be a pregame ceremony involving both teams, honoring Greenville native Shoeless Joe Jackson. The game will be against the Greenville Drive, and both teams will be shoeless for a photo along the first and third base lines prior to the game. We will also be celebrating with fans from Goose Creek during Saturday’s game. Ever dream of rounding third base and heading for home at The Joe? Saturday night is your chance to make that dream come true. Kids are able to run around the diamond every Saturday, with the Postgame Kids Run the Bases program presented by CPI Security Systems. We also have a giveaway tonight, as the first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a RiverDogs Fannypack sponsored by Kickin’ 92.5.

Sunday, May 17, 5:05 pm: Sunday is Boeing Employee Appreciation Day. There will be special pregame and in-game festivities celebrating the employees of Boeing. Every Sunday at The Joe is a Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission Kids Club Sunday, presented by Y102.5. Parking is free, and kids 12-under eat free courtesy of Pepsi. They will receive a coupon for a hot dog, fountain drink and chips.
