Summerville Chamber announces 2016 Chamber Award recipients

Summerville, SC – The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s Award program is designed to recognize the dedication, achievement and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by exceptional local businesses.  Recipients of the 2016 Chamber Awards were announced at the Chamber’s Economic Forecast Luncheon, Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony presented by Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union.

Awards were given in the following categories:  2016 Small Business of the Year, 2016 Large Business of the Year, 2016 Nonprofit of the Year, and the 2016 Berlin G. Myers Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 2016 Berlin G. Myers Lifetime Achievement Award is given in honor of the late and former Mayor Berlin G. Myers, Jr. to an outstanding volunteer demonstrating a lifetime of leadership in the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County area.  Congratulations to the two Berlin G. As one of Summerville’s most distinguished and influential individuals, former Mayor Berlin George Myers was one who demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and used his skills to make the Town of Summerville a better place for all.  Leadership, honesty, integrity, passion and success were just a few words to describe him. In 2008, an award was created by the Chamber’s Board of Directors to recognize and honor Mr. Myers for his steadfast leadership and zealous community stewardship.

Finalists for each award category were also recognized at the event.  Congratulations to the 2016 Small Business of the Year finalists, Landmark 12 Consulting and NetGALAXY Studios; 2016 Large Business of the Year finalist, Carolina Contracting Solutions, LLC; and 2016 Nonprofit of the Year finalists, American Red Cross of the Lowcountry SC and Dorchester Children’s Center.  All nominations for Business of the Year are judged by an independent judging panel comprised of various business leaders from around the nation, specifically outside of Summerville and the tri-county area.
