Welcomes Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Ron Lewis, MD
Summerville, SC (June 26, 2019) – Summerville Medical Center is ensuring that Lowcountry families have easy access to the best care for their children. The hospital is pleased to add orthopedic services to their growing pediatric program and welcomes pediatric orthopedic surgeon Ron Lewis, MD.
Summerville Medical Center’s comprehensive pediatric program includes a dedicated pediatric ER that is open 24/7, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and pediatric specialty care including pediatric surgery, pediatric ear, nose and throat, pediatric GI, and now pediatric orthopedic services. The program was designed to meet the needs of our rapidly growing community and is based on recommendations by the hospital’s Community Advisory Board, community pediatric physicians, patients and hospital staff.
This month, Summerville Medical Center welcomes Dr. Ron Lewis. He is board-certified and fellowship-trained in pediatric orthopedics with more than twenty years of experience. Dr. Lewis received his medical degree from the State University of New York School of Medicine and his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He completed his fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Dr. Lewis treats a wide range of orthopedic conditions for children from newborn up to 17 years old. He specializes in acute injuries and fractures, sports medicine, hip dysplasia, clubfoot, scoliosis, back pain and other spinal disorders, hip and feet conditions, walking abnormalities and leg length differences, neuromuscular conditions including cerebral palsy, and more.

On July 9, 2019, Trident Health will consolidate Trident and Summerville Medical Centers’ obstetric and neonatal services at Summerville Medical Center.
