CHARLESTON, SC (Feb. 19, 2018) – A. Peter Shahid, Jr. of Shahid Law Office, LLC was installed as the 2018-2019 President of the Charleston County Bar Association, along with four other officers and ten members of the executive committee. The installation ceremony was held at the Association’s annual meeting on Thursday, Feb. 15 at the Francis Marion Hotel.
Mr. Shahid is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School Of Law and focuses his practice on family law, criminal defense and civil litigation. He has three goals for his administration: providing free legal clinics to Charleston County residents to assist them in developing wills and other probate documents; offering continuing legal education seminars tailored to young attorneys; and providing a forum for older members of the legal profession to maintain contact with their colleagues.
“The Charleston County Bar Association’s mission is to provide service to the citizens of our community. The Association recognizes that families’ property which may have been passed down to them from past generations, or purchased through their hard work and monetary saving can be lost without the benefit of a simple will and other probate documents,” said Shahid of his first goal for the upcoming year. “This year, the Bar will focus on helping residents who need these legal services and do not have access to our court system based on their limited resources.”
The incoming officers and members of the executive committee for 2018-2019 are:
President – A. Peter Shahid Jr., Shahid Law Office, LLC
President-Elect – Debra J. Gammons, Distinguished Visiting Professor and Director of the
Office of Diversity, Charleston School of Law
