Book lovers and bargain hunters are in for a real treat when the Charleston Friends of the Library (CFOL) returns to host its 40th annual That BIG Book Sale the weekend of May 20-22, 2022, at the Omar Shrine Auditorium. The public can expect over 60,000 books in all categories including Children’s, Fiction, History, Cooking, Gardening, Foreign Language, Classics, and more, all on sale with prices starting at just $1. For the price of one movie ticket or one new hardback or paperback book, shoppers can walk out with a bag full of books and goodies that they can enjoy over and over again, or pass on to a friend all while supporting the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL).
With the support of our sponsors like Crews Subaru of Charleston, CarWin Logistics and Adams Outdoor Advertising, CFOL is able to continue our largest fundraiser of the year for CCPL. A first-hand preview sale for members of CFOL will be held on Thursday, May 19. “That BIG Book Sale is our largest single fundraising event. A culmination of a year's worth of work by our volunteers, this sale has become a regional ‘must-attend for book lovers and readers of all ages," stated Susan Hoffius, CFOL’s Past President. Checks, cash, and major credit cards are accepted. A special appearance from CCPL’s mascot Owlbert is expected on Saturday, May 21st from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Carin Jorgensen, CFOL’s current President states, “I’m so proud to be a part of CFOL, especially when it comes to TBBS. So many people come together to make it a success, and the community always seems to look forward to it. Hosting great events like TBBS and our branch sales are how CFOL continues supporting Charleston County Libraries.”
We still need volunteers to help continue to make this fundraiser a success. That BIG Book Sale volunteers get great perks like lunch, bragging rights and a $10 coupon to be used at the sale! If you would like to sign up to volunteer, head to our website charlestonlibraryfriends.org.
