Donna Cook is pleased to announce the receipt of a $4900 grant from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing.
This wonderful gift will be used to provide hot home delivered meals to frail, homebound seniors on the Meals on Wheels of Charleston. This waiting list ranges from 100 to 150 frail, homebound seniors who will not receive hot home delivered meals until funding becomes available. These seniors have been assessed and qualified through Trident Area Agency on Aging but may wait up to four months to begin food delivery to their place of residence. This generous gift from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing will allow Meals on Wheels of Charleston to continue hot meal delivery to qualified seniors.

Area Senior Citizens’ Services, Inc. also operates the All Are Welcome Breakfast Cafe serving seniors 55 plus years of age a hot healthy breakfast 9:30am-10:30am Monday through Friday for a $15 annual membership fee. Homeless are welcome! The 30 Day Emergency Food Box Programs provides 20 pounds of shelf stable food plus personal hygiene products as well as two packages of frozen meat for people of all ages from Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties. For food insecurity assistance, please call 843-722-4127 to schedule an appointment for Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1pm-3:30pm. 259 Meeting Street is serviced by CARTA 20.
Senior Companions offers stipends to healthy seniors willing to assist frail homebound seniors with light housekeeping and companionship. Ansonborough House offers 77 apartments to formerly homeless seniors for independent living.
