Charleston FRIENDS of the Library Announces New Executive Director Ahead of Back to School Book Sale

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston FRIENDS of the Library (CFOL) is thrilled to welcome Leah Donaldson as the new Executive Director for the non-profit ahead of the Back to School Book Sale taking place this weekend August 4-5, 2023. Ms. Donaldson comes to the FRIENDS with an extensive background working with non-profit organizations for the last sixteen years. Her experience has included establishing a 501 (c)3, grant writing, and working in various aspects of non-profits. She has managed program development, training, volunteer management, social media, event planning, community outreach, and fundraising as well as handling administrative tasks. Ms. Donaldson holds a Master's degree in Urban Planning and Community Development and is on the Board of Charleston Habitat for Humanity where she is currently the Chair of the Governance Committee.

“As a lifetime lover of books and libraries I am thrilled with the opportunity to work with CFOL, supporting programs that provide access and equity for all of our neighbors through Charleston County Public Libraries,” says Leah.

The FRIENDS of the Library Back to School Sale is presented by Crews Subaru and open to the public Friday, August 4 - Saturday, August 5 at the Bees Ferry West Ashley branch located at 3035 Sanders Road. At this sale, Children's, Young Adult, Non-Fiction, Fiction, Cookbooks, and more can be found for a steal.

Members of CFOL get the first pick on books and can shop a day earlier on Thursday. If you don't wait to come on Friday, you can become a member by going to https://www.charlestonlibraryfriends.org.

Member Pre-sale: Thursday, August 3, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Open to the public: Friday, August 4, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. & Saturday, August 5, 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
