Thirty-year Hospitality & Business Expert to Lead Company’s Strategic & Organizational Development
February 4, 2019 – Charleston, SC – Charleston Hospitality Group (CHG), with eight award-winning restaurants and entertainment establishments in the Charleston region, announced today the appointment of Robin Lee Griffith as the company’s President. Bringing more than thirty years of experience in hospitality and government relations, Griffith will lead the company’s next stage of strategic and organizational development.
Specializing in training, best practices and operational excellence, Griffith will oversee the operations, marketing and financial processes of all CHG restaurants. She will play a role in the strategic direction of each brand and also identify opportunities for enhancing the customer experience.
“Robin brings with her a wealth of knowledge and skills and we’re beyond excited to have her join the Charleston Hospitality Group team,” said Sam Mustafa, owner of CHG. “She’s results-driven and process-oriented and her experience will undoubtedly assist us in taking each one of our brands to the next level.”
Prior to joining Charleston Hospitality Group, Griffith spent five years with the National Restaurant Association in Washington, D.C., most recently as Senior Director of Member Engagement Programs. She also served as the Special Assistant to the Mayor with the City of Charleston and spent thirteen years on Capitol Hill as Senate and Congressional staff. Griffith received her degree from Johnson and Wales University for Food and Beverage Management and began her career at Hyatt Hotels in the late 80’s.
“While I’ve always had a passion for the hospitality industry, the culture of food is also part of who I am, it’s in my blood — my ancestors Sally Seymour and Elia Seymour-Lee were free women of color and considered renowned caterers in Charleston in the 1700-1800s. Being immersed in Charleston’s restaurant industry is such an honor and I look forward to joining the CHG team to bring the vision for each brand to life,” said Griffith.
“Charleston is a city of 5-star restaurants so it’s of course important to invest in your team and restaurants in order to stand out. Creating a role within our company for a President is a necessary step in order to better serve the Charleston region,” Mustafa continued.
Griffith is involved in a variety of non-profit organizations and community events, both in a member and board member capacity. She sits on the Board of the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association’s Events Committee and is a member of Charleston’s Chapter of Jack and Jill of America. She has also had previous involvement with Charleston Wine and Food Festival, SC Business Leadership Network and the Palmetto Goodwill Business Leadership Council.
