The Women’s and Gender Studies’ (WGS) tenth annual Yes! I’m a Feminist annual fundraising event will be returning to an in person celebration! The WGS Program and the WGS Community Advisory Board are excited to celebrate and proclaim our dedication to feminism and honor the achievements of the past 10 years of the WGS program at the College of Charleston. We invite you to join us on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Stern Center Gardens located at 71 George Street. The event is free and open to the public.
The Yes! I’m a Feminist fundraiser will support WGS students through scholarships, travel grants for conferences, and expanded research and study abroad opportunities. The event is also a fundraiser for the Alison Piepmeier Endowed Scholarship, awarded annually to a full-time Women’s and Gender Studies major or minor at the College of Charleston who is a campus-community activist and leader. The endowed scholarship has been awarded to five students to date and is in honor of the late Piepmeier, who founded Yes! I’m a Feminist while Director of the program.
Kate Peralta (Class of 2018), Recent Alum and Chair of Yes! I’m a Feminist Community Advisory Board’s Committee, explains WGS’s importance, “WGS provided me with quality education and a plethora of amazing opportunities that helped me understand the importance of viewing the world through a feminist lens. In light of recent events, it is more important than ever to support the WGS program to provide these opportunities and this education to more students as they become the leaders that we desperately need.”
Donations can be made now through the day of the event online at give.cofc.edu/WGS, at the day of the event, and by check and mailed to:
