Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center Awarded $5,000 Grant from Volvo

Charleston, S.C, July 11, 2018 – Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, the region’s leading resource to prevent abuse, protect children and heal families, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Volvo Car US Operations Community Fund. The grant, administered by the Coastal Community Foundation, will support the Center’s Coordinated Community Response to Child Abuse (CCRCA).

The Center partners with 25 local agencies through a CCRCA protocol, including the 9th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office, local law enforcement, school districts, and Departments of Social Services and Mental Health. The Center coordinates weekly partner meetings to staff cases and jointly develop individual and family treatment and intervention plans that are in the best interest of protecting and supporting the child victim.

“By partnering with other local agencies, we believe children and families have the best chance to heal,” says Dr. Carole Swiecicki, executive director and CEO of Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center. “Collaboration is one of our core values. The Center was established after the community identified gaps in services available to child victims in the Lowcountry, and a failure of community agencies to communicate and cooperate in the best interest of children. Since then we have helped more than 26,000 children get the help that they deserve.”
