Diane Flanagan, New CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern SC

Diane Flanagan is the new Chief Executive Officer of the Girl Scouts of Eastern SC. Diane joins GSESC from Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest. There, she was hired as the first CEO of the organization and was responsible to manage the consolidation of three former Girl Scout councils into one council covering 33 counties and 94,000 square miles in west Texas and southern New Mexico. After taking leadership of the council, Diane reduced overall expenses by 33% while increasing services to girls and volunteers. For the last two years, Diane’s council led the nation in membership growth.
Prior to joining Girl Scouts, Diane worked at Delphi Automotive Systems as Director of Sales and Marketing for Mexico where she implemented sales strategies and marketing programs for vehicle manufacturers in Mexico, generating annual sales in excess of $2 billion. Diane previously worked as Superintendent of Product Engineering and was responsible for establishing Product Engineering in Mexico. She oversaw the construction and implementation of the Mexico Technical Center in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico which houses over 1,800 engineers.

Diane’s extensive community service includes serving as the President of the Junior League of El Paso. Diane also served on the University of Texas at El Paso President’s Athletic Advisory Board, the El Paso Women’s Executive Forum, and the National Girl Scout Pension Advisory Committee. In 2014, Diane was appointed as the Region 10 (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas) representative to the National Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Campfire, a member of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. In this role, Diane met with Pope Francis in Rome in June 2015. Diane was appointed to the Board of Directors for the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry in July 2018.

Diane’s past community involvement includes serving as Finance Chair for the El Paso Desert Botanical Garden, Coronado High School PTSA President, and webmaster, Coronado High School Orchestra board member and St. Clements School Parent Council President, and board member. In 2012, Diane chaired the Junior League of El Paso’s “Christmas Fair,” an event generating over $250,000 in funding for the El Paso community.

Diane was inducted into the El Paso Commission for Women’s Hall of Fame in 2013 for outstanding work in civic leadership. She is the recipient of the 2013 Patrick Henry Award for patriotism from the Military Order of World Wars. In 2015, Diane was named a distinguished alumna by her high school in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Diane earned a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from Vanderbilt University. Diane has two sons. Kevin graduated from the School of Engineering at Vanderbilt University and Ryan graduated from Texas Christian University.
