Charleston, SC – To meet the increasing demand for Cybersecurity professionals, ECPI University has developed an Accelerated Cyber and Information Security Technology degree program that allows people who already have a four-year degree to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Cyber and Network Security in as little as 12 months.
“There are countless numbers of people who earned broad liberal arts degrees when the job market was much different,” says ECPI University Dean of Computer and Information Science Dr. Keith Morneau. “We are now in a skills-based economy and they feel stuck because they can’t just go back to school and do it all over again. This program allows them to take the degree they already have and add the skills and academic credentials needed to compete for jobs that are very much in demand.”
Moreover, the current pandemic has exposed careers that are vulnerable to workplace shutdowns. While many employers have ceased hiring for the moment, cybersecurity professionals are still in demand. With classes beginning August 31, students enrolling in this accelerated program can study remotely and complete their new degree by next summer.
While some may be intimidated by such a technical career path, ECPI University’s hands-on, applications-based curriculum is different. “When we talk to career switchers, we find that many see cybersecurity as a very attractive career path, but doubt their own abilities,” says Dr. Keith Morneau. “They worry about doing the math, not realizing that much of the curriculum revolves around critical thinking and problem solving. We’ve had countless graduates who first came to us with these same concerns and have gone on to thrive in their careers.”
