Vistage International will launch a Lowcountry professional development program in April for high-performing emerging leaders. The program prepares rising stars to become the next generation of leaders in their organization. Under the guidance of a Vistage Chair, an accomplished business leader and master facilitator, participants will develop core leadership competencies and confidence, empowering them to deliver on company goals.
Vistage peer advisory boards comprised of CEOs, Presidents and business owners in the Lowcountry and around the world realize the value of filling mission-critical leadership roles with trusted employees, developing their top talent for such roles, going the extra mile to retain top performers, and improved near-near-term execution.
In response, Vistage developed the Emerging Leaders program, in which top-performing managers and individual contributors collaborate with peers from inside and outside their companies toward the common goal of preparing for greater leadership roles. By applying new skills on-the job, participants become well-rounded business leaders equipped to execute on high-level, cross-disciplinary initiatives and lead teams effectively.
Unlike other leadership programs that squeeze material into a few back-to-back days and leave implementation at risk, the Vistage model focuses on one core leadership competency over each 60 day period to encourage mastery, and features accountability to peers and a mentor for developing each skill. The Vistage Mentorship Framework empowers in-house senior managers to guide participants in real-time application of leadership competencies in the context of their company.
Beginning in April, sessions will meet locally from 8-5 every other month. Topic experts from Vistage will conduct a morning workshop on one of 12 leadership competencies. A local Vistage Chair (Rick Self) will use the afternoon to develop specific action plans to implement this competency over the next 60 days, and each participant will be accountable to report to the group on implementation of the prior month’s competency.
Year 1 sessions are Self-Awareness, Execution, Communication, Performance Management, Team Management and Business Finance.
Year 2 Sessions are Executive Presence, Accountability, Emotional intelligence, Change Management, Business Strategy and Customer Focus.
The cost is $425 a month, or $5,100 for the year. Participants commit to the first year cohort which helps reinforce the learning with peer accountability through the program.
This is the only Vistage Emerging Leader program in South Carolina, and with a limited cohort size, this offering will fill quickly. Current Vistage-member companies have priority for reserving seats, but membership is not required to participate.
The deadline for registration is Feb 12th.
