First Tuesday Strategies (FTS), South Carolina’s top political and public affairs consulting firm, today announced Hunter Sox as Director, Public Affairs. Additionally, the firm announced the promotions of Nick Murray to Vice President of Business Development and Angela McCallum to Managing Director.

The new hire and promotions signify the firm’s commitment to its ongoing growth and offering premium services to over 100 clients nationwide.

Before joining FTS, Hunter Sox was the Legislative Initiatives Coordinator for the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health (IMPH). In this role, he represented IMPH with members of the General Assembly, their staff, and other elected officials to increase the Institute’s visibility and credibility as the go-to resource for nonpartisan information to inform health policy. Before his stint with IMPH, Hunter worked for the South Carolina House of Representatives.

Hunter cares deeply about the local community he grew up in, and in 2021, was elected to a city council seat in Cayce, South Carolina. Hunter secured 54% of the vote in that three-candidate race and was recently named one of Lexington County’s 2023 Top 20 Professionals Under 40. “I am excited to join such a strong team and look forward to serving so many amazing clients,” said Sox.

“Hunter is a proven winner who will help us better serve our clients,” said Matt Moore, Managing Partner.

Nick Murray’s promotion to Vice President, Business Development reflects his success in developing high-profile public affairs campaigns for the firm. Murray joined FTS in April 2021 with nearly a decade of experience in public relations, issues management, and corporate communications. “I’m passionate about helping our clients navigate the local, state, and federal political landscape.” said Murray. “But it’s never about us. FTS will continue to innovate and help our clients win.”

In her new role as Managing Director, Angela McCallum will oversee all FTS projects across its political and corporate divisions. “FTS’ winning record speaks for itself. I’m honored to have played a role in wins this past cycle and am truly excited about my new role with the firm.”

McCallum joined FTS in 2021 following stints at the White House and National Republican Senatorial Committee. In 2022, she served as de facto campaign manager for over a dozen winning Republican primary candidates. Overall, she led over 40 competitive 2022 campaigns with a 97% win rate.

Senior Partner Luke Byars commented, “Now in our 16th year, the best is yet to come for FTS. We are incredibly thankful to our clients for recognizing and trusting the firm’s unique skills.”
