HALOS Awarded $5,000 Grant from TD Charitable Foundation

TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank@ has awarded a grant of $5,000 to HALOS. The grant will be used to improve the well-being of children living in “kinship care”-- children being raised by a grandparent or other relative instead of foster care placement. HALOS offers resources so that kinship caregivers can provide safe, stable and nurturing homes to child victims of abuse and neglect.

In response to the unique challenges faced by kinship care families, HALOS pioneered its Kinship Care Program in 2007. HALOS is the only organization in the tri-county area focused specifically on supporting these special families with comprehensive services.

“In 2017, HALOS experienced a 29% increase in the number of families served. The number of kinship families grows everyday due, in part, to the opioid crisis,” says Kim Clifton, executive director of HALOS. “We are very thankful to TD Charitable Foundation for investing in the well-being of these vulnerable children.”

"As a member of the Charleston community, I am impressed by the breadth of resources HALOS provides to these special caregivers," said Scott Sharp, TD Regional Vice President.
"TD is proud to support community organizations such as HALOS that help strengthen families."
