Inaugural Carolina Kingfish Classic to benefit the campaign for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital

Mt. Pleasant, SC – Charleston’s premier fishing destination, Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina, will host its inaugural Carolina Kingfish Classic on August 15 – 17, 2019. Beach parties with live music, two days of fishing, and auctions all to benefit the campaign for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital are just some of the family fun events planned. Anglers will be competing for huge prizes and the prestigious King’s Crown while participating in the 4th leg of the Southern Kingfish Association’s division 3 tournament trail.

Tournament Director Loyd Weston says, “We are very excited to bring a King Mackerel Tournament back to Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. For many years, we were the host location of the very successful and long running Fishing for Miracles Tournament. Our entire resort staff is extremely committed to putting on a fun tournament and giving back to the campaign for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.”

100% of the proceeds from Saturday evening’s beach party admissions and auctions will go directly to the campaign for the MUSC Children’s Hospital. After almost 30 years in its current location, MUSC Children’s Hospital is preparing for an exciting new phase of life in a new home and with a new name: the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. The new hospital will be a place built around the special needs of children, where they can feel safe, protected and surrounded by loved ones during their stay.

The Carolina Kingfish Classic is the 2nd tournament in Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina’s tournament series. The Carolina Billfish Classic, held June 19-22, was a huge success with Blue Sky from Pawley’s Island taking top honors. Wrapping up the Carolina Classic tournament series will be the Carolina Sailfish and Wahoo Classic on October 2-5, 2019.

Carolina Kingfish Classic is still accepting auction items, donations, and tournament sponsorships. For more information call Loyd Weston at 843-284-7065, email, logon the tournament website at or on Facebook @CarolinaKingfishClassic.
