Joint Base Charleston Wins Aeroflow Breastpumps’ Pumping Room Makeover

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. – Aeroflow Breastpumps, a subsidiary of Aeroflow Healthcare, today announced the winner of its first-ever Pumping Room Makeover - Joint Base Charleston’s Air Base Child Development Center, 628th Force Support Squadron, South Carolina.

Joint Base Charleston Child Development Centers are nationally certified and strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The program’s mission is to assist military and civilian personnel in balancing the competing demands of the accomplishment of the Department of Defense mission and family life by managing and delivering a system of quality, available and affordable programs and services for eligible children and youth birth through 18 years of age.

“We received over 550 entries in a one-month period, and selected the winner based on a variety of criteria such as number of breastfeeding families who would benefit from the room, an organization who we know is as passionate as we are about supporting breastfeeding moms, as well as a compelling story,” said Cheri Hoffman, Mom & Baby Brand Manager at Aeroflow Healthcare. “It was a very tough choice, but Joint Base Charleston stood out to us given it was an opportunity to not only provide a makeover, but also raise awareness around the benefits of supporting breastfeeding moms in the military community.” Partners for the event include Lansinoh, Spectra, and Four1Seven Furniture Exchange.

“On behalf of the Air Base Child Development Center, I want to thank Aeroflow Breastpumps for selecting our facility to receive their first-ever ‘Pumping Room Makeover’ and I also want to recognize Dr. Maimie Futrell, a parent of children enrolled in our program, who submitted our facility for this contest,” said Judith Jackson, Air Base Child Development Center director. “With this ‘Pumping Room Makeover’, our military and civilian mothers will have a modern and comfortable place to support their breastfeeding requirements for their newborn children. We are honored to receive this generous gift and very grateful for Aeroflow Breastpumps’ support of our military community.”

The makeover will be held on January 11, and include a complete room transformation, including comfortable furniture for moms when breastfeeding, a side table, organizational areas, room accessories, and breastfeeding artwork. Joint Base Charleston will also receive a complete supply of breastfeeding supplies.

“Creating a lactation room does not have to be expensive or complicated,” said Hoffman. “We hope this makeover will inspire others to create a safe, comfortable space for their lactating moms.”

Media interested in covering this event must RSVP by 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 to: 628.abw.pa@us.af.mil or (843) 963-5608. Media will need to arrive at the Dorchester Gate Visitor Center parking lot Friday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. and meet with the Joint Base Charleston public affairs representative to be escorted on the installation.
