SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — KION North America Corporation donates second Linde MT12 pallet truck to the Lowcountry Food Bank this year. This pallet truck will be used by the Lowcountry Food Bank in their warehouse to help move food to appropriate areas for sorting, packing, storage and delivery to their associated agencies.
The Lowcountry Food Bank plans to designate this pallet truck (75% of the time) to their volunteer team who organize and administer their many, daily volunteer jobs. “KION’s generous donation of the electric pallet truck helps us more efficiently meet the needs of our community,” said Pat Walker, Lowcountry Food Bank CEO. “The pallet truck will help our volunteer team organize daily volunteer projects, which will result in moving even more nutritious food to children, seniors and families who struggle with hunger every day in the Lowcountry.”
KION North America's donation comes from their Lifting up the Lowcountry Outreach Program. “In addition to making in-kind donations of equipment, teams of KION employees volunteer their time in helping sort and package food several times during the year,” said David Brown, KION North America Director of Human Resources.
In 2019 alone, KION North America has participated in two volunteer events with the Lowcountry Food Bank that included over 30 employees and family members of KION North America. Through the Lifting Up the Lowcountry Outreach Program, KION North America has two more volunteer events scheduled with the Lowcountry Food Bank, which will include another 30 participants.
