LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air Announces Christmas Commandos and The Green Heart Project as November Give Back Grant Recipients
December 6, 2018 – Charleston, SC – LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air announced today that Christmas Commandos and The Green Heart Project have been chosen as recipients of the company’s November Give Back Grant. The Give Back Grant program, initiated in 2016, demonstrates “LimRic Pride” by donating a financial contribution to two 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations each month.
Christmas Commandos is an organization that runs toy drives and fundraisers all season long to prepare for a “covert mission” that starts on Christmas Eve – large teams of “Commandos,” escorted by police, visit the home where a child or children have lost a parent within the last year to hang presents from trees in front of their home. The organization receives names of children from hospices, guidance counselors, churches and giving members of the community to ensure that every child receives a full Christmas and a more joyful day. Volunteers can get involved by donating their time toy wrapping, loading and unloading gifts, transporting toys to the headquarters or taking a Christmas Eve midnight delivery route. Monetary donations and donations of wish list items are also encouraged.
The Green Heart Project builds garden-based, experiential learning projects and school garden program to educate students, connect people and cultivate community through growing, eating and celebrating food. For example, the organization has “farm-to-school” programs where students work with a garden teacher and “Green Heart Buddy” to experience the agriculture process from beginning to end. The organization’s activities seek to help children experience educational achievement and cognitive development, social and emotional development and to also assist them in becoming active citizens in the community. Volunteers can get involved by serving as a garden volunteer, Green Heart Buddy or an array of other garden-related projects.
