Charleston, S.C June 6t, 2020 — Lisa Burbage, founder and CEO of Wellness Five, LLC, has recently been awarded the level of master trainer by the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s nationwide Diabetes Prevention Program.
With 86 million American adults suffering from pre-diabetes and 9 out of every 10 of them not knowing they have it, the Diabetes Prevention Program is extremely timely. Created by the CDC in 2010, the program trains and prepares qualified individuals to become lifestyle coaches to facilitate the diabetes prevention program. The goal is to reduce the burden of Type 2 and pre-diabetes in communities greatly affected throughout the United States. Certified master trainers are able to provide virtual and in-person delivery of the lifestyle change program.
To receive a master trainer certification Lisa Burbage completed the program at the Diabetes Training and Technical Assistance Center at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta. She is one of only 180 certified master trainers in the nation. As part of the certification she was required to facilitate a full-cycle diabetes prevention program. Based on the results of the participants in her program, she became one of only a few fully accredited vendors for the CDC in South Carolina. With this achievement, she can now train others to become lifestyle coaches.
Mrs. Burbage is a national board-certified health and wellness coach, NBC-HWC, M.Ed., who is also the founder and CEO of the corporate wellness company Wellness Five, LLC, based in Charleston, S.C. Employers and others can find her on LinkedIn and learn more about her company at wellnessfive.com.
