Lowcountry: Community Grant Application Deadline: February 1

SCNPS Lowcountry Chapter Community Project Funding Criteria for Grants up to $1,000
Spring proposals will be accepted until February 1st and awarded by March 1st.

Community projects must be directed at protecting, preserving, restoring, and/or educating the public about native plants or plant communities in the Lowcountry of South Carolina (specifically, we will only consider projects in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, and Horry Counties). Priority will be given to those projects involving public land, cultural significance, rare species, or the removal of invasive/exotic species.

Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate that they have means (manpower, time, etc.) available to complete the project. Funds must be used within one year of issuance. Applicants may only apply for one project per fiscal year. Community project funds are not to be used on personal property or for personal gain. Awardees are required to provide proof of project completion, such as photos and maps (if applicable), of the funded project upon completion (or within one year of the issue date). A presentation about the completion of your project during one of the SCNPS Lowcountry monthly meetings at the Citadel is preferred.

For consideration, applicants must submit a one-page description of the project that includes
a. Project contact (including phone number and email address)
b. Location
c. Budget
d. Description of how this project benefits native plants
e. Timeline for completion

Award amounts: Individual award amounts will not exceed $1,000. Awards will be given at the discretion of the Board of the Lowcountry Chapter of the SCNPS.

Application deadlines:
Fall proposals will be accepted until September 10th and awarded by October 1st.
Spring proposals will be accepted until February 1st and awarded by March 1st.
