Mitchum started at the college as a part-time employee in 1993. He became a full-time employee in 1994 and has since worked in numerous positions within Information Technology, including as network technician, network administrator, network and voice services manager, and most recently as director of information technology services.

The Division of Information Technology is responsible for all aspects of the college’s information infrastructure, including data storage and security, cloud-based computing, networking, voice and email systems, employee and student portals, and the college’s online learning platform.

“M.G. is homegrown talent – a Berkeley County native and Trident Tech alum who demonstrates how far our graduates can go in their careers,” said Trident Tech President Mary Thornley. “With his expertise and experience he could be employed anywhere. We are thankful he has chosen to advance in his career at his alma mater. His dedication to the college, his technical knowledge, and his responsiveness to student needs makes him the perfect person to lead this vital area of the college.”

Mitchum holds a master’s degree in information technology management from Webster University, a bachelor’s degree in management from Charleston Southern University, and an associate degree in computer technology from Trident Tech.

In his new role, Mitchum will report to Trident Tech’s president and serve on the president’s cabinet.
