Mason Prep students, teachers, and parents are thrilled to help two programs which are so important to our community.
Students at Mason Prep School chose two local programs to support this holiday season: Lowcountry Orphan Relief and Toys for Tots. Kindergarten students, as part of a year-long Service Learning Project, earned money at home and in their neighborhoods to purchase toys for Toys for Tots. They also invited Mason Prep families to donate toys.
The Mason Prep City Council (student government) chose to support Lowcountry Orphan Relief in December with a "Bring a Pair in the Size you Wear" drive. Families were asked to support the drive by bringing new underwear and socks, gently used clothing and shoes, and/or books and stuffed animals.
Students were thrilled to see the results of their efforts. “Our goal at Mason Prep is to create a sense of community in our students. We want our graduates to genuinely care about the communities of which they are a part. Each grade participates in a Service Learning Project, and our City Council leads several community service projects throughout the year. We take these opportunities to educate our students about needs in our communities and how even a little bit can go a long way. It is wonderful to see the passion our students have for helping others,” said Erin Hauhn, Mason Prep City Council Sponsor and teacher.
