Mason Prep is pleased to welcome Dr. Tim Spurrier as the school’s new Head. Dr. Spurrier, who comes to Mason Prep from the Honolulu Waldorf School, holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of New England, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University, Master’s and Bachelor degrees in Communication from Towson University, and certificates in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education as well as a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School. Most recently, in 2019 Dr. Spurrier was among a select group of international school leaders awarded a Klingenstein Fellowship to attend Columbia University’s Heads of Schools Program through its Teachers College.
Prior to his role as the Interim Head of School at the Honolulu Waldorf School, Dr. Spurrier served as the Head of School at Holy Nativity School in Honolulu. Earlier in his career, he founded and served as Head of School for the Waimea Country School in Kamuela, Hawaii and served as the Head of School of Mead Hall in Aiken, South Carolina. An experienced teacher, Dr. Spurrier also has served as a second and third grade teacher, a performing arts teacher for grades K-6, a college instructor teaching public speaking and English, and a collegiate tennis coach.
