Mason Prep School Welcomes New Faculty Members

Mason Prep is pleased to announce the addition of several new faculty members. (Pictured L to R: Shelly Aksomitas, Karlien Eiseman, Stacey Keller, Tyler Merillat, and Mary Lang Regen.)

Shelly Aksomitas, 6th-8th Grade Math Teacher, has taught in the Charleston County School District and holds her National Board Certification in Adolescent Mathematics. Ms. Aksomitas earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and her Master’s in Math and Science Education from The College of Charleston.

Karlien Eiseman, Media Specialist and 7th Grade Literature Teacher, comes to Mason Prep from Buist Academy, where she was a fifth grade Language Arts teacher and a Creative Writing Club advisor. Ms. Eiseman received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Middle Childhood Education from Kent State University and her Master's Degree in Education in Advanced Studies from the American College of Education.

Stacey Keller, Kindergarten Associate Teacher, comes to Mason Prep from the Charleston County School District, where she worked in Literacy Intervention. Ms. Keller received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky and her Master’s in Education from Georgia State University.

Tyler Merillat, PE Teacher and Assistant Athletic Director, was previously at Cleveland State University, where he served as Assistant Athletics Director, Academic Services. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University and his Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Mary Lang Regen, 4th Grade Teacher, comes to Mason Prep from Legette Blythe Elementary School in Charlotte, N.C. where she was a 2nd grade teacher. Ms. Regen received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC Chapel Hill.

Mason Preparatory School is an independent school for grades K-8 located in downtown Charleston, SC. Mason Prep is committed to the education of the whole child in preparation for secondary education, to the development of the child into a productive citizen, and to the cultivation of respect, integrity, and personal responsibility.
