Mason Prep School Welcomes New Faculty Members

Mason Prep is pleased to announce the addition of several new faculty members.

Katrina Bryan, Science Teacher for grades 4 through 6, returns to Mason Prep after working for Charleston County Public Schools as a seventh grade science teacher at Camp Road Middle School. Prior to that position, Mrs. Bryan served in the district office of the CCSD. Mrs. Bryan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Francis Marion University.

Kerry Gannon, Math Teacher for fifth and sixth grades, most recently taught sixth grade math at the former James Island Middle School and seventh grade math at Camp Road Middle School. Ms. Gannon
attended Nazareth College in upstate New York, majoring in Mathematics and Adolescent Education. She graduated with honors, earning a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and New York State Certification in Inclusive Adolescent Mathematics Education. She also has earned her M.Ed. in Sport Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Jan Stone, Director of Guidance, comes to Mason Prep from a position providing counseling support to military-connected children at two North Charleston public schools. Ms. Stone graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Masters of the Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University. Upon relocating to Charleston, Ms. Stone worked at the Medical University of South Carolina providing counseling to children ages 5 - 13.

Grey Thomas; Grammar, Vocabulary, and Composition Teacher for grades 6 through 8; earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at Mercer University, spending a semester studying at Oxford University. She then earned a Master of Arts in Communication at Johns Hopkins University and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching at The Citadel.

Kathleen Thomas, Learning Specialist, comes to Mason Prep after ten years with the Charleston County School District. With an undergraduate degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Public Policy, and a M.S.T. in Elementary Education and Special Education from Le Moyne College, she joins Mason Prep with experience as a teacher in the resource setting as well as in third and fifth grade general education classrooms. Kathleen is also a National Board Certified teacher in the area of Exceptional Children ages birth through twenty-one.

Mason Preparatory School is an independent school for grades K-8 located in downtown Charleston, SC. Mason Prep is committed to the education of the whole child in preparation for secondary education, to the development of the child into a productive citizen, and to the cultivation of respect, integrity, and personal responsibility.
