LandscapeMetal Trades, Inc. (MTI) is proud to announce our recent award with US ARMY TACOM for the Modular Warping Tug (MWT) On-Condition Cycled Maintenance (OCCM) and Service Life Extension Program (SLEP). We were contracted to receive two vessels out of Fort Eustis, which will be worked at Metal Trades facility on Yonges Island just south of Charleston, South Carolina. The award is immediate and will go through the second quarter of next year.

MTI has serviced the US Army Watercraft for over a quarter of a century. Our company is world-renowned in the services we offer to support the US Army Watercraft Mission. We have a dedicated staff that have worked on these vessels and some team members that are part of this crew have been with our company over 20 years. Metal Trades, Inc. has a passion for Army Watercraft and the mission these vessels serve, and our company appreciates the jobs this award creates for our community.

The Modular Warping Tug is self-propelled craft which is part of the support fleet of Modular Causeway Systems. The Army has a mission to rapidly offload cargo and warfighting material from various types of vessels that often do not have access to ports due to various restrictions or circumstances. The Modular Causeway Systems provide floating platforms for the loading, discharge, and transport of cargo to/from destinations. The Modular Warping Tug is used as a tendering vessel to assemble, push, pull, retrain, and maneuver these platforms. These tugs are steel vessels and provide a critical link for discharge operations. The OCCM work includes items such as towing, drydocking, cleaning, and painting tanks and vessel exterior. The Service Life Extension Program is part of a mission to extend the service life of these vessels. The SLEP portion of this contract supports modifications and upgrades to components to include but not limited to propulsion modifications, re-power, electrical updates, winch upgrades and installations, and modifications on hydraulic systems.

Metal Trades, Inc. is excited for this wonderful opportunity. We are always looking for qualified welders, fitters, marine electricians, and machinists to join our team. Please go to our website at
