Mungo Makes Large Donation to Aid Hurricane Victims

Columbia, SC. The Mungo family, together with the Michael J. Mungo Foundation, has contributed $100,000 to the Lowcountry Food Bank, which is rapidly working to provide vital support in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence's devastating impact to coastal South Carolina.

According to CEO, Steven Mungo, many people in the affected area are hourly workers living paycheck-to-paycheck and have been out of work since the evacuation order. Combined with a high poverty rate before this event, there is tremendous need for what many of us take for granted: basic nutrition.
The food bank has already distributed more than 600,000 pounds of food and anticipates distributing thousands more as part of Hurricane Florence and flood relief, according to Pat Walker, President and CEO of Lowcountry Food Bank.
The Mungo donation will allow the Food Bank to lease trucks capable of getting emergency aid through to those in need, and provide extra food to those who are out of work from the flooding.
