Nominations Being Accepted for 2019 “Harold Koon Award for Excellence in Volunteer Service”

Charleston, S.C.—The city of Charleston Business and Neighborhood Services division is now accepting nominations for the 21st annual “Harold Koon Award for Excellence in Volunteer Service.” City residents are invited to nominate others who they feel have demonstrated continuous and outstanding volunteer service to their neighborhood.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, December 21, 2018.

The winner will be selected by the Neighborhood Commission, which is comprised of representatives of each City Council district, and will be presented the award by Mayor John Tecklenburg at a future Council meeting.

The award was created in 1998 to honor the memory of Harold Koon, a passionate and productive neighborhood volunteer and community leader. Koon served in numerous volunteer capacities for Mazyck-Wraggborough Garden District and as president of his neighborhood association.
