NTE Energy, partners donate over $60,000 to Hurricane Florence relief efforts in the Carolinas MHPS, Gemma, NAES, Vogt and ACES join with NTE to aid struggling communities

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., September 20, 2018–NTE Energy and its development partners are donating more than $60,000 to the Salvation Army to support Hurricane Florence relief efforts in the Carolinas.

NTE – which opened the 475-megawatt Kings Mountain Energy Center three weeks ago in Cleveland County, North Carolina – joined with its development partners Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS), Gemma Power Systems, NAES, Vogt Power and ACES Power Marketing to make the donation to the Salvation Army, which is providing food, shelter and other assistance to residents and first responders in impacted communities across the Carolinas.

“While many of the communities we serve were thankfully spared the worst of the storm damage, we know that nearby cities and towns were not so fortunate,” said Michael Green, NTE senior vice president for development in the Carolinas. “A donation to support the immediate aid being provided to families that evacuated and are in need of food and shelter seemed to be the best way we could help folks during this difficult time.”

After committing to make its own monetary donation – in addition to providing water and other needed supplies to affected communities – NTE then reached out to some of its partners who were instrumental in the development, construction and operation of the Kings Mountain Energy Center and other NTE Energy projects currently in development in the Carolinas. All of the organizations eagerly agreed to contribute to the donation.

In addition to its Kings Mountain facility, NTE is currently developing Reidsville Energy Center, a 500-megawatt natural gas-fired plant in Rockingham County, North Carolina. The company has also begun preliminary design work on a third combined-cycle natural gas power plant in South Carolina while also developing the Fayetteville Solar Energy Center, a 30-megawatt facility that will provide an affordable source of clean, renewable energy to communities and utilities in the Carolinas through NTE’s Voluntary Solar Program.

“NTE has made a long-standing commitment to serve the communities of the Carolinas,” Green said. “We are committed to being there for our customers through thick and thin.”
