MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA - OPIE Drive-Thru Grocery and Cafe is grateful to announce its partnership with East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO). This locally renowned non-profit organization is dedicated to providing assistance, guidance, and resources to help neighbors navigate through life’s challenges.
On Thursday, November 2nd, OPIE delivered 200 turkeys to ECCO’s campus at 1145 Six Mile Road in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. ECCO will use the turkeys to distribute to families across the East Cooper communities, as part of their Thanksgiving Meal initiative. This holiday season, ECCO will distribute a full Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey, to over 500 local families.
“Thanksgiving is a special time of the year for families. That’s why OPIE Drive-Thru Grocery and Cafe’s Harvest Helpers initiative teamed up with ECCO. Our team at OPIE is grateful to be a small part of ECCO’s good work in the Lowcountry this Thanksgiving,” said Bob Algard of OPIE Grocery.
OPIE Drive-Thru Grocery and Cafe is located at 1735 North Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant and operates 24/7. They offer a range of over 5,000 grocery items, from fresh produce to beverages, grass-fed steaks, and illy premium coffee. Customers easily place pick-up or delivery orders at opiestores.com, the OPIE mobile app, or 24/7 in the Drive-Thru with an OPIE clerk.
“ECCO is thankful to the team at our local OPIE and their heart to serve the community. As a nonprofit, our budget can be tight, and cost-saving partnerships like this help to alleviate the burden and allow ECCO to serve the community well,” said Don Squires, ECCO’s Director of Development & Marketing. “For many of the families we serve, it’s been a tough year financially. Each November, we do our very best to help lighten that load and bring a little joy and hope by providing a complete Thanksgiving meal. OPIE is helping to make that possible.”

About East Cooper Community Outreach
Founded as an emergency relief effort in 1989 after the devastation of Hurricane Hugo, East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) has since grown into a permanent resource for the community with three main service areas: Assistance, Guidance, and Resources. Over two thousand families receive help through ECCO’s Wellness Pantry, Financial Assistance, Dental & Medical Clinics, Prescription Assistance, Clothing Closet, an Asset Development Program, and more each year. Enhanced through personal interactions with staff who provide individualized support and coaching for each client, ECCO meets each client where they are and helps them navigate the challenges they are facing with care and compassion. ECCO is also a place where people who want to help their neighbors in need can find meaningful ways to share their time, talent, and treasure. Two hundred and fifty local neighbors give their time, volunteering at ECCO’s main campus and clothing closet.
