Palmetto Goodwill Stepping Up To Help Flood Victims
Donations Needed to Meet Expected Demand
N. Charleston, SC – Palmetto Goodwill announced today it is once again partnering with the American Red Cross to help those adversely impacted by the flooding associated with Hurricane Florence. Through this partnership Red Cross issues Goodwill referrals to those in need, who then claim a voucher from Palmetto Goodwill for use at any of their thrift stores.
Palmetto Goodwill President and CEO, Robert Smith, stated, “As in year’s past, we are happy to step forward and be a part of this relief process. But this really is a community-wide effort. We expect to be inundated with voucher referrals over the coming months, and thus encourage everyone to donate any unwanted clothes and goods to Goodwill. Every donation helps in times like these. Please join us in this effort and donate today.”
Additionally, it was announced that Palmetto Goodwill will be utilizing its Round-Up program to raise funds for flood disaster relief. Summer Hatley, VP of Donate Goods for Palmetto Goodwill, explained the effort, saying, “Normally our Round-Up revenues go to help fund Palmetto Warrior Connection, but for the next few months funds generated by customers rounding-up at check-out will be contributed directly to the Waccamaw Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. We hope everyone who shops at Goodwill will Round-Up to help in this effort.”
Smith added, “These are two easy ways to help support our neighbors who have been impacted by this ongoing disaster. The Palmetto Goodwill family looks forward to doing our part to help our community through this crisis.”
Palmetto Goodwill is a not-for-profit social enterprise whose mission is to help people reach their full potential through the dignity and power of work.
