Greg Kitchens (PPF) hands check to Chris Kirhagis, Pres of Laffey Assoc as happy crew members look on

Patriots Point Foundation, an all volunteer 501c3 now in their 43rd year supporting the Naval and Maritime Museum donated $1,000 to the USS Laffey Association for structural steel. The Laffey crew and family will fabricate the steel to facilitate access to the After Boiler Room.

The USS Laffey family is in town for one of two yearly work parties. They come from across the nation at their own expense to help maintain the ship on which they served.

The USS Laffey was at both Normandy on D-Day and in the famous battle at Okinawa where they were hit with 6 kamikazes and 4 deck bombs and did not sink. The Laffey became known as "The ship that would not die". To help support these efforts, please visit PatriotsPointFoundation.org/#donate .

Fundraising continues for the Flight Academy on the USS Yorktown where Patriots Point Foundation will match ALL individual donations up to $5,000. Information about this STEM related program for youngsters available on our website. PatriotsPointFoundation.org or email board member andysolgere1845@gmail.com for more information.
