Patti Leahy tapped to join Build Carolina board of directors

CHARLESTON, S.C. - South Carolina-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization Build Carolina today announced the addition of Patti Leahy, Founder and Principal Consultant of CHAT Communications LLC, to its Board of Directors. She will contribute a three-year term as part of the organization, which focuses on advancing the state’s technology community through demand-driven job training programs, relevant employer resources and meaningful connections in the industry. Leahy joins seven other members, including Charleston-based Tom Wilson, founder and CEO of Hyper63, LLC.

In addition to her role with CHAT Communications LLC, Leahy currently serves as a Director and Investment Committee member at Enterprise Investors, a leading private equity firm specializing in mid-market buyout transactions and growth financing to high growth enterprises in Central Europe. Leahy also serves as a Director and Finance & Audit Committee member at SC Launch, the investment affiliate of South Carolina Research Authority where she evaluates and approves investments in technology-based startups. Previously, she was Vice President at Benefitfocus, a HealthTech SaaS provider acquired by Voya Financial (NASDAQ: VOYA) where she was responsible for Investor Relations (IR) and ESG and launching and managing the company’s startup accelerator.

Build Carolina is headquartered in Greenville, with strong local networks across the state. The organization provides training and educational resources for employers; job training for people seeking employment in the industry; and programs for individuals currently employed in the field. It currently runs three programs - Carolina Code School, SC Codes, and Develop Carolina.
