Join Truvy, Ouiser, Clairee, M’Lynn, Annelle, and Shelby at Truvy’s Beauty Parlor for some primping, gossiping, and hilarious heartwarming fun in this beloved Southern classic!

“We can’t wait to share laughs, tears, and some juicy gossip," say Director Jesse Siak. "We’re so happy to be bringing this classic comedy to the Dock Street—tickled pink, in fact.”

The cast includes Charleston Stage Professional Resident Actors Sara Sanderson as Shelby and Mary Kate Foley as Annelle along with Charleston Stage Acting Ensemble Member Samille Basler as Clairee. Rounding out the cast are Charleston local actors Liz Duren as M'Lynn, Teralyn Reiter as Truvy, and Melonea Marek as Ouiser.

Background Information on Steel Magnolias
Though incredibly funny, Steel Magnolias was written by Robert Harling after the tragic death of his older sister. Friends suggested he write about the experience in order to help him deal with his grief. From this, a short story emerged which evolved into a full-length play that was produced off-Broadway to rave reviews in 1987. A London production appeared the next year and a hit film version followed in 1989 and did much to make young Julia Roberts a star. A Broadway production brought acclaim to Steel Magnolias once again in 2005 and another revival is planned for later this year.
