Pleasant Places and General Precast Manufacturing have been competitors for years in the ever-growing Charleston construction market, but as Chuck Gunter (owner of GPM) got closer to retirement, Pleasant Places was his first call.

“We have had a healthy, respectful, and professionally competitive relationship for years. When it came time to retire, we saw this as a perfect fit. We met with Guy Artigues (Owner) and Gilly Artigues (CEO), had 2 or 3 casual lunch meetings, and shook hands. The joining of General Precast with Pleasant Places has been a win-win for everyone. Our former and now Pleasant Places employees have blended in perfectly, and, most importantly, our long-standing customers will continue to receive the best-in-class with the Pleasant Places Hardscape division for years and generations to come. One of the best business decisions we ever made.”

As for the employees at General Precast, the transition has been seamless. Grady Howell, once an employee for General Precast, elaborates:
“It has just been great here. Guy and Gilly are truly good people, and the energy they bring motivates the whole company to be the best out of anybody in our market.”
