S.C. Manufacturing Extension Creates $3.33 Billion Statewide Economic Impact in 2022

The South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) released its record-breaking annual report numbers, resulting in a statewide impact of $3.33 billion in 2022, an increase from 2021’s impact of $1.85 billion.

“Last year was a record-breaking year in many ways for South Carolina manufacturing, and SCMEP’s economic impact data backs that up,” said SCMEP President & CEO Andy Carr. “As South Carolina’s manufacturing economy continues to expand, SCMEP continues to evolve to ensure we continue to provide the resources and solutions that are essential for our state’s manufacturing companies to maximize their global competitiveness.”

In 2022 SCMEP worked with a total of 516 companies. The companies surveyed reported the following impacts:
• 2,396 jobs created
• 3,669 jobs retained
• $265 million in new investments
• $111 million in cost savings
• $476 million in new sales
• $2.5 billion in retained sales
• $3.33 billion in total economic impact

Measured quarterly and reported annually, SCMEP’s client companies are surveyed by NIST through an independent third-party organization.
