Sam Skardon joins LDC

Charleston’s LDC, a federal and state certified CDFI, announces the recent hire of Sam Skardon as the Director of Development and Policy. This is a new position for the 40-year old nonprofit community development organization and marks an expansion of the LDC’s senior leadership. Skardon’s role will help position the small business and minority lender to invest more strategically for deeper community impact and broaden its policy outreach.

Prior to joining LDC, Skardon served as the Director of the One Region Strategy, a Charleston area-wide collaboration between leading regional business, non-profit, and governmental organizations to make our local economy more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable.

Sam’s experience includes serving as legislative aide to Congressman John Lewis (D-GA), a data analyst at Georgetown University, and a consultant to several Fortune 500 companies. He is a graduate of Emory University and earned his M.B.A. from Georgetown University. Raised in the Lowcountry, he graduated from the Academic Magnet High School and has been active in recent efforts to restore diversity to their student body. Skardon is currently a candidate for the South Carolina State Senate in District 41.

“Sam brings a depth of knowledge about business development and growth opportunity to the LDC. Most importantly, he shares our vision for making LDC the go-to lender for small businesses that enrich this community. He is thought-leader in issues related to economic empowerment, social justice, and equity,” says Steve Saltzman, LDC’s CEO. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”
