The South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) made four staff announcements today.
Jason Rice Named Regional Vice President
Rice earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. He held leadership roles as Plant Engineering Leader with Ford Motor Company, Quality and Regulatory Affairs Manager for Stryker Corporation, and Director of Global Repair Operations for NORDAM Aerospace before moving to Charleston, SC, where he consulted as an SCMEP resource starting in 2015. Rice will lead SCMEP’s business development and project management efforts in the counties of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton, and Jasper.
Christopher Floyd Named Business Development Associate
Floyd earned a degree in organizational leadership from the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining SCMEP, Floyd was a manufacturing manager for Becton Dickinson Life Sciences in Sumter, SC, a role in which he led a team of more than 125 associates in a Class II FDA regulated facility that produced more than a billion units annually. Floyd is also co-founder of Pandemic Patients, a 501(c)(3) organization that works to relieve the harm caused by COVID-19. Floyd will lead SCMEP’s business development efforts in the counties of Aiken, Allendale, Barnwell, Edgefield, Lexington, Newberry, Richland, and Saluda.
Regional Vice President Melissa Steinkuhl Announces Retirement
Melissa Steinkuhl is retiring on Sept. 30 after more than 10 years with SCMEP. She has been an invaluable member of the team and her contributions to the manufacturing community in South Carolina are immeasurable.
Regional Vice President Brian Kuney Takes On New Responsibilities
As part of SCMEP’s organizational restructure, Regional Vice President Brian Kuney has taken on the following counties: Bamberg, Calhoun, Clarendon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Williamsburg. Kuney has been with SCMEP since 2013 and previously led the organization’s efforts in operational excellence and continuous improvement.
