Charleston - SEL4SC (Social Emotional Learning Alliance for South Carolina) and SCETV are excited to present an interactive webinar with Marc Brackett, Ph.D., founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and a professor in the Child Study Center at Yale University on Wednesday, August 5. Marc’s research focuses on the role of emotional intelligence in learning, decision making, creativity, relationships, health, and performance. He is the lead developer of RULER, a Pre-K to high school evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning that has been adopted by over 2,500 schools across the globe. He also is on the board of directors of CASEL and the author of “Permission to Feel: Unlocking the Power of Emotions to Help our Kids, Ourselves, and our Society Thrive.”

Emotions influence learning, decision making, relationships, physical and mental health, creativity, and performance. But it’s our wise use of emotion that’s especially important. In this keynote, Dr. Brackett will (1) describe recent large-scale studies on the emotional lives of children and adults, (2) share his Center’s model of emotional intelligence, (3) describe RULER, the systemic, evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning developed at Yale that has been adopted by over 2,500 schools across the globe and (4) teach participants tools to develop emotional intelligence to enhance personal and professional success.
