CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sipango, downtown Charleston’s newest restaurant located at 209 East Bay Street, is now open. The new restaurant will serve dinner daily from 5pm to 10pm and lunch Friday through Sunday beginning at 11:30am. The Italian-centric menu features fresh ingredients and dishes curated by culinary powerhouse and Executive Chef, Brian Fox. Sipango’s featured item is its wood-fired pizza, made with a natural, sourdough starter and put through a 36-hour cold fermentation process.
“We are inspired by clean food, clean plating and the use of what’s available in our own backyard,” said Brian Fox, Sipango Executive Chef. “We let the ingredients and techniques speak for themselves by pairing them on the plate in ways that complement each other.”
Other specialty dishes include Crab Toast with housemade bread and pickled sweet peppers; Caprese Salad with housemade ricotta cheese, preserved lemon and basil pesto; and Mozzarella Al Minuto, hand-pulled mozzarella made to order and served with a rustic housemade semolina bread.
Sipango also released a new happy hour menu, available Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm. The menu features snack-sized bites like Romano Spice-Rubbed Chicken Wings ($6) and Whipped Herb Ricotta ($5). A wide selection of cocktails and wines are available during happy hour for $6.
The restaurant’s bar is open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 1am on Friday and Saturday. Sipango’s cozy booths and open brick interiors create the perfect setting for guests to relax and enjoy authentic Italian cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients.
